    Description

This vintage planter is a product of the Spaulding China Company, located in Sebring, Ohio, and in operation from 1942 to 1957.  Marketed as part of the company’s “Royal Copley” line, this bear-shaped planter stands approximately 6 ¾” in height, 4 ¼” in length and 4 ½” in width.  The bear features a brown overall glaze, a blue-glazed bow, a bright burgundy-glazed mandolin and a partial decal on the head.  It is an unmarked piece of Royal Copley that is in very good condition with the exception of crazing, partial decal, dirt residue in the interior, a few minor scuffs/scratches and two hairline cracks.  Despite these barely visible imperfections, this is a delightful mid-century pottery piece.
